Research Update
Feb. 17th 2010 February 17, 2010
It has been a while since my last post, so I thought I would get everyone caught up with what's been going on research wise.
As with past winters, activity has been at a minimum. I haven't managed to capture any odd or unknown vocalizations, my recording efforts have been restricted do to weather conditions. With the temperatures being mostly below freezing the ground has frozen solid making finding any possible tracks difficult.
In January we had a period of warmer weather that thawed the ground some. During this time we found what may have been 3 track impressions. the first two appeared to be side by side as if the source had been standing in one spot for an extended period of time possibly shifting it's weight back and forth. The 3rd and most defined track looked to be a of a bare footed print approximately 12 to 13 inches long and about 5 to 6 inches at the ball of the foot.
In February, as many of you know the weather took a turn for the worse. The snow piling up has limited our research even more, the country and back roads in this area are not top priority for road crews. But the snow does have it's benefits, when looking for possible activities. A few days ago while walking our dog along our township road I discovered an odd set of tracks. They appeared to be two large impression in the snow right next to the road. The thing that struck me was the size of the impressions and the distance between the two. The problem with tracks in snow is melt out or just the structural integrity of the snow it's self. Discerning size of the subject(s) that made the impressions is up to speculation. But the distance from one track to another is less affected by conditions.
I took notice of these two tracks and we proceeded to walk further up the road. I noticed more disturbances in the snow across the road and went to check them out. What I found was more of the same depressions. This time the subject exited the roadway down an embankment in to a large ditch appearing to stop and stand leaving two side by side prints, then exiting it entering the woods and disappearing. As we walked along the tracks exited the woods, re-entered the road side ditch and traveled up the ditch for about 75 yards stepping up the embankment stopping at the edge of the road across from some contractor office trailers then turning around and following it's previous course back to were it exited the woods again and disappearing.
At first I though maybe the first two were just the left foot of the subject and that the passing traffic had obliterated the right foot impressions causing it to look like a large stride. The tracks on the opposite side of the road put a damper on that theory.
I could tell direction due to the fact that the rear of the some of tracks had a sweeping affect in the snow behind the track.
The ditch is between 3 to 4 feet deep and it took the subject one step from the top to the bottom of the embankment. The second thing is if it were a person why walk in the ditch? There was about a foot of snow and the road would have been easer to travel on. Another odd thing is what ever it was retraced it's path and re-entered the woods in the same spot.
Taking in all the evidence that something or someone had traveled along the road leaving tracks... I was thinking Ok, where did you come from? So I changed directions and scouted out the road in the other direction. Again I found more disturbed snow, the subject appeared to enter the road from where the power line right of way intersects with the roadway. (Refer to "Right Turn Clyde")
Was it the legendary Clyde? We may never know!
Until next time,
Scott
Evidence Update
Sept 25, 2009
Hello again,
Well things seam to be quite slow in our area as research goes for the last couple months. I have not heard of many reports coming from ....Ohio.... and our research areas have gone quiet for the most part. Activity here around the old homestead has followed suit. Due to reasons beyond our control the human element has increased substantially on the surrounding properties and this may have something to do with the slow down of activity near our home. One neighbor is clearing some of his property to install new fencing and a pipeline crew is working day and night on some adjacent land close to our residence. We are hoping that things will return to normal once all the extra human activity ceases. This break in the action gives me the chance to relate more historical evidence that has recently been discovered.
Lorrie and I were talking about the past events already mentioned earlier in my entries here. She started to recall to me an incident that occurred during her childhood. She is not certain how old she was or the date this happened but she still recalls the details of what she had seen.
One night while sitting in the living room with some of her family members, Lorrie noticed a face peering through one of the windows. Turning to see if anyone else in the room saw the face Lorrie noticed that her sister was staring at the window. About that time both girls jumped up, ran and hid under the kitchen table. After the commotion settled their father went out side to check out their claims. He returned to the house telling them he saw no one out side. Lorrie described the face to be quite large because it took up most of the window pain; she also stated that it was covered with straggly hair and that both the face and hair appeared to be dirty. She does not remember seeing any other part of the subject’s body and didn't see the subject approach the window nor did she see it leave due to the fact she was afraid and ran into the kitchen.
Until recently Lorrie and I had not mentioned our suspicions to very many people including her siblings. But it must have been getting the best of her and she got up enough courage. One day one of her five sisters was visiting and Lorrie broke the ice with her account of the face in the window. Her sister reacted to the story with “You saw a face too??” D (as I will call her) is older than Lorrie and therefore both of them believe that they had separate encounters with the face in the window. D’s encounter happened while also in the living room but out a different window. She also noted that the face was large, hairy and covered in soot or dirt. D also remembered that it was winter time and nearing the Christmas holiday, which made the memory stick in her mind even more so. D stated that she thought the face in the window was Santa Clause and if Santa looked that scary she wanted nothing to do with him. She also stated that through out the rest of her childhood she was terrified of any store front Santa. Now that the ice had been broken and information shared with more of the sisters, more past accounts of activity has surfaced.
This evidence is mostly of the audio kind, I guess the area has a history of strange sounds coming from the woods. On many occasions the girls heard odd howls, screams and the like coming from the nearby woods. Their parents would just write off the accounts of the sounds as dogs, coyotes or other animals. But listening to them talk about their experiences I can tell that they think different of the odd sounds. This recent discovery of older evidence leads me to believe that activity could have been going on as far back as 50 years ago. Until next time,
Scott

Update: June 2 2009
Hello All,
So far 2009 has found activity to be slow. I have managed only to come up with a few sound recordings so far. I managed to capture audio of something large moving through the woods breaking brush. On two different occasions I recorded vocalizations and I am in the process of trying to find a match of what may have made the vocals. One could possibly be K9 but the end of the call makes me wonder if it could be something else.
The most compelling so far this year happened on April 25th just a little after midnight and may be the best recording I have gotten to date.
I had set up two digital recorders that night (April 24th) and started recording around 10 pm Don met up with me at 11 pm and set up his recording equipment and we waited to see if there would be any activity.
At 12:30 am something vocalized from across the valley and southwest of our location in what I would call a high pitched scream-howl. A few seconds later another individual vocalized from our side of the valley but was up hill and southeast from our position with a lower toned moan-howl in return. It is typical in our research areas to have multiple vocalizations in a short time period. So we were scanning the area with our eyes and ears waiting for more activity. Approximately 1 minute and 22 seconds later we got another scream-howl from the western side of the valley. It appeared that the first subject had moved north along the valley to almost directly across from us. And again it was met with a return call of the same low toned moan-howl. The second subject had also moved north along the hill behind us and was the closest to our position. This really got our attention, instead of retreating from our positions these individuals were coming closer. That was all we heard that night, the flurry of vocalizations was over.
We did nothing to provoke a response; this mission was a surveillance only setup. The only noise made was us talking around a small fire. We have adapted this quiet mode of investigations too not draw unwanted attention from other investigators or possible hoaxers, or as not to scare away all of the wildlife in our research areas, the more natural and peaceful the setting the better. Try it and you may see a lot more wildlife and hay maybe you will get a quick glimpse of the big hairy guy!
Until next time,

Things that make you go Hmmmmmm?
As the old saying goes “Hind Sights Twenty - Twenty” and a few things started to point too the fact that maybe something was in the area and could have been for years. I’m going to take you back several years into past.
The property we live on is where Lorrie’s child hood home and her family have been for about fifty years. The old house is no longer here; it was damaged in a flood in the summer 1998 and has since been torn down. My father-in-law moved into a trailer he had set up on higher ground. He was widowed and was living on his own so Lorrie and I sold our home and moved into our new home on the property right next to his trailer to keep an eye on him.
Our house sits in an area of the property where Lorrie’s Dad used to have a garden. When we were clearing part of the land for the house foundation he related a story how something kept getting in to his garden, eating and up rooting the plants. He said that one day while checking the garden he found a large bear track. When asked how big? He held out his hands and said “this big”. Looking at his hands; he was holding them over a foot apart, I thought “Wow” bear?
Jumping to the future a little....
My nephew was looking for a place to deer hunt; I told him I might be able to get access to some of our neighbor’s property. After getting permission from two of the neighbors, we did some scouting on the property across the road from us. We came across what I thought was a well used deer trail. The trail was about four feet wide with the grass trampled flat, which at the time I thought was a little strange. Normally deer trails are narrow and heavy traveled trails are usually more of a ditch worn in the ground. Another strange thing that I noticed was along both sides of this trail, were numerous broken trees an inch to maybe three inches or more in diameter. Some were twisted, some were broken and bent over and others were broken off and laying along side the trail. The trail and broken trees were of note but you need to remember that I did not have any interest in the subject back then.
One day I noticed another trail similar to the one across the road; this one came off the hill behind our house. It lead down hill at a slight angle exiting the woods near a large cedar tree not more that fifteen feet from the back corner of our house which happened to be within thirty feet from where the back corner of the old garden used to be and where the “Bear Track” had been found.
You will get to know this part of the property in the near future as I bring to light more of events that occurred.

The story of “Right Turn Clyde”
In Loving Memory of Floyd.
July 4, 1926 – March 28, 2013
As you all know by now, we were living next door to Lorrie’s Father. One day we went outside and he was on his front deck as he would be quite often. He was looking out towards the road when he glanced over and noticed us coming out of the house. He started talking loudly at us and pointing across the road.
Lorrie went over to see what he was pointing at, she couldn’t see anything and by that time I had joined them and he stated that there was a…..monkey across the road near or on a utility pole. He liked to toss a few brew-skies back then.
So I just chalked it up to his cheap beer. But he kept on insisting that there was something across the road near the power pole. Lorrie and I still could not see anything. He started saying something about “Right Turn Clyde” and kept repeating it.
I asked him you mean the Orangutan from “Any Which Way but Loose” and he said yes…Clint Eastwood. I said it’s orange? And his reply was, yes and it’s climbing the pole.
Neither I nor Lorrie could see what he was seeing and we both just put it off as the brew talking. We went back about our business and left the poor man standing there frustrated by our inabilities to see it.
Looking back, I think that maybe he had seen “Clyde” on or near a utility pole. The area across the road is thick brush and young growth trees. There is a power line right of way that begins just across from our driveway and travels northwest. He had a clear view to the other side of our valley and about half way up the opposite hillside which is several hundred yards away.
Our problem may have been when he said “across the road” I took it as just across the road and not to much further into the woods, Lorrie may have taken it the same way. If we had looked farther back towards the hill area, we may have seen what he was talking about.
I’m not saying what he claims to have seen was the big guy and he just called it a monkey/Clyde, but at the farthest distance Clyde would have had to be quite large for him to be able tell that it looked like an Orangutan in color, shape and size.
These have been some of the occurrences that stand out now even though they didn’t back then.
Till next time keep up the search.

Up until July 1st 2007 I had not put much credit to stuff like this. I had seen a few documentaries on the subject while channel surfing but I wasn't convinced one way or the other. Now what? Forget what we heard and keep our sanity or delve deeper to find an answer to the origin of what had occurred?
Over the following months my quarry didn't let me down. I was getting better at capturing recordings and had to acquire more and better equipment. We were getting sounds but they were not happening every night and we couldn't predict their occurrence. Some were coyotes, owls, dogs and normal wildlife for the area but on occasions we were lucky enough to capture sounds that were strange or could not be identified.
Some of the sounds included; something walking close to the house that sounded very large and bipedal. Loud erratic wood knocking, howls, screams, growls, heavy breathing and primate like chatter.
With each occurrence the mystery only increased. What was responsible for the activity around our home? Was it getting that close? And was there reason for us to be concerned?
Well things were about to escalate, about every weekend we would have a group of investigators staking out the area. The group experienced varied activities; more strange sounds, wood knocks, eye shine, shadowy figures, rock throwing, strange smells and something even thought it would be fun to knock on a window and give Lorrie a scare. She heard something knocking the window and when she turned around to look she saw what appeared to be the back side of a hairy hand. The thing that makes me believe what she saw was that the bottom of window sill is over 7½ feet above the ground and the apparent hand was another foot and half higher on the window making it about 9 feet high.
We witnessed eye shine on several occasions with multiple subjects being viewed simultaneously. I even tried to approach a set of eye shine 30 feet from me in the brush that appeared to be about 7 feet high and it moved away at a quick pace and disappeared with out showing its form.
More than once we have heard something hit the house and then find a rock on the back deck. This happened just the other day.
Until next time, keep up the search.

What got me into investigating this phenomenon.
After being a guest on Don Keating's "Sasquatch Triangle" and Billy Willard's "Sasquatch Watch" Radio programs and relaying my encounters to others, I found to my surprise that there was an interest in my misadventures into the subject of Sasquatch/Bigfoot research. Using this blog I hope to keep everyone up to date on my experiences, encounters and evidence that is collected.
The How, When, Who and Where
It all started back on the evening of ..July 1st 2007... Lorrie (my wife) and I were cooking out on our new charcoal grill. We finished eating and started to clean up. I was having trouble getting the grill lid to open and close properly and waited for it to cool down before trying to adjust it. After several minutes of some choice words, a lot of banging, clanging and a not so gentle persuasion I managed to get the lid to operate some what smoothly. I had started down the drive towards the garage when I was stopped in my tracks, Lorrie and our dog Whitey had followed me and were also standing still listening to the same sounds. What we were hearing can be describe as follows; a very loud siren sounding howl that I relate to the sound of an Air Raid siren. The only problem is that there is no siren located in our valley and this had more of an organic sound than mechanical. Later that night I searched the internet to see if I could find an explanation for these sounds, trying to compare them to any animals indigenous to this part of the country. Not finding anything I kept searching until coming across a website claming to have sounds of….what?? No couldn’t be in Ohio?? Well, with not finding any match, I played a sound file claiming to be recorded in Ohio of you guessed it BIGFOOT. After playing this sound file, I’m thinking Ok I better play it again just then Lorrie comes into the room and says “How did you get that sound on the computer so fast” and my reply was I haven’t it’s on the internet. And as the old saying goes the rest is history and with every encounter, sound or local report I’m as Don once stated “In it a hundred fold”. Are our encounters, the sounds, and physical evidence left, proof of our quarry? No, but after close scrutiny some defy rational meaning and some are explained as ordinary.
Till next time,
Scott
